The Autoptic Festival Returns August 13th & 14th, 2022
We have some exciting news to share: Autoptic Festival is returning as an in-person event on Saturday, August 13th and Sunday, August 14th, 2022. This year’s festival will feature the debut of our new two-day split schedule format with our floor show exhibition on Saturday and all of our panels and Programing on Sunday.
On Saturday, August 13th, we’ll have exhibitor’s tabling at The Coffman Memorial Union on the beautiful campus of the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Then, on Sunday, August 14th, we’ll be hosting a day of panels and programing at The Minneapolis College of Art and Design in Minneapolis, Minnesota in a hybrid, in-person/remote format.
We hope that utilizing this two-day split schedule for our floor show and programing will allow exhibitors and attendees to enjoy the floor show on Saturday, then pivot to enjoying and participating in as much of the programming as they’d like to on Sunday. At the 2022 Autoptic Festival, you won’t have to miss out on any of the programing, even if you are an exhibitor.

Just like our last festival in 2018, the 2022 Autoptic Festival will be a juried exhibition. So, we are also announcing that Exhibitor Applications will be open from February 1st thru April 30th, 2022. You can find our 2022 Exhibitor Application Form here: https://forms.gle/gTo11GCCZUa1NeWo7
Since it has been a while, to remind you all, The Autoptic Festival is an independent bi-annual festival celebrating the best of DIY print culture, with an emphasis on comics, zines, posters, and other printed materials. The Autoptic Festival will include panels, workshops, interviews, book signings, parties, and a day-long floorshow where over 120 artists can display their art, sell their work and meet the public.
Even though we have not seen you all in person since our last festival in 2018, we here at Autoptic have been keeping busy. Among other things, we published a catalog of amazing comics, illustrations, and design work while also producing seasonal podcasts and YouTube content. While we hope you enjoyed experiencing Autotpic remotely, we know nothing can replicate the camaraderie and excitement of seeing old friends and discovering new artists out on the Auoptic Festival floor. That’s why we’re excited to announce that Autoptic is returning as an in-person event this year!
Finally, we will be monitoring public health developments in the coming months and adjust our plans and event specifications as needed. At this time both the Autoptic Foundation and our venue partners are confident that we will be able to hold a safe, responsible, in-person event in August. Should that change, we will let you know as soon as possible.
So, yeah! The 2022 Autoptic Festival will be held on Saturday, August 13th and Sunday August 14th, 2022 at The Coffman Memorial Union and the Minneapolis College of Art and Design.
Admission is free and open to the public.
